Iran sanctions relief is limited in the face of ongoing political challenges

Conversely, the changes in Iran sanctions in 2015 were extremely limited. What many people do not realize is that the changes that recently took effect, as provided for in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed in July, will also be extremely limited for U.S. entities and individuals.

Make no mistake about it – sanctions enforcement is here to stay. We are at an important crossroads – the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Asset Control is flexing its compliance enforcement muscle, along with the criminal prosecution capabilities of the Department of Justice.
