Who we are:
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the New Zealand Government’s international business development agency. We are a hands-on, collaborative and commercial team, working with some of New Zealand’s most forward-thinking and innovative companies.
What you will be doing:
You will be helping New Zealand companies maximise their market entry and growth success by supporting a team of Business Growth Advisors who help our kiwi companies identify their Canadian market strategy, potential in-market partners, and growth opportunities. To do this, we are seeking a high energy and collaborative team member to join our Vancouver team as a Business Development Analyst.
This role provides amazing exposure to a diverse range of sectors including technology, industrial manufacturing, food & beverage, and many more. Your contributions will provide our portfolio of New Zealand businesses with key insights and knowledge to enter and grow in Canada.
This is a varied role and covers a range of responsibilities, including:
- Market insights gathering and analytics
- Competitor analysis & quick report generation
- Partner/distributor search
- Project and presentation support
You will use your analysis and reporting skills to provide valuable insights which enable our New Zealand companies to make better business growth decisions. You’ll be proactive, curious, and it should be second nature to you to seek out quality information that adds value.
You’ll be an active participant, and contributor, and team Canada’s champion in a cohort of four other Business Development Analysts who work together to support their respective teams across North America.
What you will need to be successful:
You’ll be professional, have strong attention to detail and be quick to pick up new concepts and ideas – comfortable working across multiple projects and teams at once, with exceptional time management skills. A willingness and enthusiasm to “make it happen” should be part of your daily attitude.
You’ll be technically savvy and comfortable handling large datasets with skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and while PowerBI experience would be an advantage, it is not a must. Beyond just crunching numbers, you’ll dive into reports, media and other formats to uncover and articulate key market insights, making complex information easily understandable for decision-makers Ideally, you’ll possess an interest and experience in international business.
You’ll have a continuous improvement mindset and a drive for results, comfortable communicating with a wide range of stakeholders across North America and New Zealand. Your inquisitive nature will make you a great presenter of information, facilitating the development and delivery of routine reporting. You’ll be a lifelong learner, always eager to expand your knowledge and share insights with other. You’ll love knowing that the impactful work and support you deliver enables your team to drive deeper strategic engagement with their customers.

NZTE currently operates in a hybrid working environment, with time required in the Vancouver downtown office as well as flexible work-from-home options. An indicative compensation range for this role is between CAD $79,000 – $87,800 per year. Applicants must be authorised to work in Canada, visa sponsorship is not available.
