Position: Assistant Logistics Manager
Location: Montreal, QC
Description: The Assistant Logistics Manager position is an A to Z of logistics management from initial purchasing to delivery in a fast paced environment. The Assistant Logistics Manager will be responsible for negotiating and dealing with freight forwarders across North America, Europe and Asia. In addition, he or she will be called upon to stay abreast of important industry and legislative issues and communicate strategies and solutions to the team to ensure that work is completed and deadlines are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support a team of 10-15 employees to ensure that all logistics activities are carried out in an efficient manner
- Negotiate and deal with freight forwarders across North America, Europe and Asia
- Stay abreast of important industry and legislative issues and communicate strategies and solutions to the team to ensure that work is completed and deadlines are met
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary an asset, Logistics oriented designation such as CIFFA; CITP; FIATA etc. is preferable
- Five or more years of experience in international freight forwarding resulting in an excellent understanding of the freight forwarding, logistics and customs clearance
- Minimum 3 – 5 years managing employees in a logistics/freight forwarding environment
- Strong connections in the logistics and freight forwarding industry and a history of successful negotiations and decision making
- Fluency (verbal/written) in both English and French
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
